Affordable Counselling
Compassionate support that fits your budget

I'm James Hayden, offering low cost counselling in Leixlip and affordable therapy across the Dublin area. Working exclusively with adult individuals over 18, I specialise in supporting people through anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions. As a fully qualified and IACP accredited CBT counsellor in Leixlip, I understand that mental health support shouldn't depend on your postcode or your bank balance. After a decade in this work, I've witnessed how transformative it can be when someone finally has space to breathe, to think, to simply be heard without judgement.
My practice occupies a comfortable ground-floor space with parking sorted – no stressful searches for spaces or climbing stairs when you're already feeling fragile. I work with both short-term focused approaches and longer therapeutic journeys, using person-centred and CBT methods. Together, we can explore what's possible when you're no longer carrying everything alone.
I work with adults over 18 who are ready to explore their challenges and work towards positive change. Whether you're dealing with immediate concerns or long-standing difficulties, counselling can provide the space and support you need to move forward.

Counselling isn't about someone waving a magic wand. It's something far more powerful – it's about having someone genuinely listen whilst you untangle the knots in your thinking. Sometimes clients discover that their problems aren't actually problems at all, but natural responses to impossible situations. Other times, we uncover patterns that have been part of you for years and affecting your daily life.
Counselling creates space for new possibilities. You might find yourself responding differently to your colleagues or family members, or noticing when anxiety starts building before it overwhelms you. Many people are surprised by their own resilience once they stop trying to solve everything alone.

People's struggles don't fit into neat categories, but certain patterns emerge regularly in my practice. Anxiety can appear as racing thoughts, physical tension, or overwhelming worry about everyday situations. Depression often shows up as persistent low mood, fatigue, or losing interest in activities you once enjoyed. Relationship problems might involve repeated conflicts, communication breakdowns, or feeling disconnected from people who matter to you.
Low self-esteem can mean constant self-criticism or doubting your decisions and worth. Life transitions - whether career changes, relationship shifts, or major life events - can leave you feeling uncertain about your direction. Whatever difficulties you're facing, they deserve proper attention. There's no minimum level of distress required to benefit from low cost counselling.
Your first session costs nothing – not because my time isn't valuable, but because starting therapy shouldn't require a leap of faith with your finances. We can meet, talk about what's brought you here, and see if this feels like the right fit. No pressure, no obligations – just a genuine conversation about how I might be able to help.
